TODAY'S ACTIVITIES:
- If you haven't finished your Part I and shown it to the sub or me, you MUST DO THAT TODAY, or you will have 3 zeros added to the gradebook today.
- I am available to help with any questions you may have on transitions, sound, custom animation, etc.
- Remember that you must have a "Bibliography" slide or "Works Cited" slide and that you must format your websites (sites you obtained information, pictures, etc.) from. Click on the link below to see an example of how I want it to look. Pay close attention to where the periods are. I will take off if you do not format yours exactly how mine looks in the example. Go to link for
- States Bibliography Slide Example - For Format
- Make sure you are saving everything in to your folder that we created together in your server. It should be titled --> yourfirstname - nameofstate - yourclassperiod
- You will be turning in this whole folder on Friday, so make sure EVERYTHING YOU SAVED FROM THE INTERNET, PLUS YOUR POWERPOINT PROJECT IS IN THIS FOLDER.
- EVERYONE, should have their Part I complete and you should be working on Part II/III. Part II/III is a 2 sided handout. Make sure you read both sides and include everything you are supposed to include.
- If you have not started on your PowerPoint project (Part II/Part III), you are going to need to work very quickly, since projects are due this Friday.
For those of you who are missing your 50States Part I handout here is the link to the document where you can print it out for yourself. Remember that this handout is worth 3 grades.

Tuesday, February 26, 2008
February 27, 28 & 29
- Since I am not here the next three days, my EXPECTATIONS of you are much HIGHER! Please don't let me down.
- Remember this project has to be complete on or before next Friday, March 7th, whether I am here or not. On or Before means, if you know you aren't going to be here next Friday then your project is due Thursday, MAKE SINCE? If not ask someone to explain it to you. Furthermore, if you are absent any day between now and Friday, your project is still due by Friday, March 7th - you have to learn to make choices and decisions based on the job you must get down. (Example: I am at home with a sick kid, but my job and duty to all of you still goes on; therefore, I must meet certain deadlines to see to it that my job duties are still taken care of! Everything we do in here relates to the real world in some way!! :)
- I expect everyone to stay on task and use your time wisely in order to complete this PowerPoint project.
- By Friday, February 29th, you should have completed your research, had your Part I approved by the sub (or me if you post it to your blog), and begin working on the actual PowerPoint.
- My goal for you is to have at least 2-3 slides done and complete by the end of the period on Friday.
- Remember you will receive a daily grade based on your work progress, attention to detail and the focus you give to your project each class period. The sub will leave me notes on those of you she noticed off task and you will lose points for that days participation grade.
- In addition, your Part I handout is worth 3 daily grades so you better make sure the sub checks off your Part I when you are finished so you don't receive a zero for that portion of this project.
- You need to check YOUR blog daily, I might leave you a comment that you need to read.
NOTES:
- ABSENCES FROM TUESDAY: If you were absent on Tuesday and did not receive Part I of this two week project, please ask the sub for the Part I handout. You will then need to ask another classmate to explain to you what you need to do with that handout.
- If you were absent on Tuesday you need to look at my blog posts on Tuesday, 2/26; find your class period; look to see what states have been chosen already and then post a comment to my blog telling me what state you want to do your project on. No two people can do the same state and NO ONE can do Texas.
- There are very few people that have actually completed Part I. If you are one of those people you will know it. If you know that you are one of those people, you need to go get Part II/III from the sub and get started creating your State PowerPoint.
- If you choose to post your Part I research data to your blog, you must have information for all 12 items/questions that are listed and requested on the Part I handout.
DAILY ACTIVITIES (TO BE COMPLETED IN THE ORDER LISTED):
- 1. Check my blog for any additional information I may have added.
- 2. Check to see if I left you a comment on your blog.
- 3. Get out your research or log on to your blog where your research is located.
- 4. Complete your Part I handout or post Part I research data to your blog.
- 5. Take your Part I handout to the sub or ask the sub to come over and View your research on your blog
- 6. Once the sub has checked you off as having completed Part I, ask the sub for the Part II/Part III handout
- 7. Once you receive the Part II/Part III handout you need to read this handout carefully, thoroughly and completely.
- 8. Once you have read Part II/Part III handout carefully, thoroughly and completely YOU MAY BEGIN CREATING YOUR POWERPOINT PROJECT .
- 9. WHAT DO I NAME MY POWERPOINT PRESENTATION? yourfirstname - nameofstate - yourclassperiod
- 10. Make sure you save your presentation to the project folder in your server that we created on Tuesday in class (folder name: yourfirstname - nameofstate)
- 11. Make sure you save your presentation and all your pictures, music etc to that project folder you were to create in your server. Remember that folder is what you will turn in next Friday.
- 12. Now that you have started your project, you have saved your project with the correct filename (see #9 above), you have saved your presentation in your project folder that is located in your server; you are to work on your State PowerPoint Presentation each day, during the entire class period. Be sure that you are referring to your Part II/Part III handout, because it lists everything you need to have in your presentation, how to organize it, and what you must do in order to earn the grade you want (see Grading Rubric on Part III part of handout).
- 13. Work diligently all period and use your time wisely and be on your best behavior.
NO ONE NEEDS TO LEAVE THE ROOM AT ALL FOR THE NEXT 3 DAYS. DON'T EVEN ASK!!
IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, YOU CAN ALWAYS LEAVE A COMMENT TO THIS POST ON MY BLOG. I WILL BE CHECKING MY BLOG AND YOURS EACH DAY.
Have a good week and I will see you on Monday.
